Jazz at Oslo Pride Parade 2025

Jazz Music Norway Brings the Spirit of New Orleans to Oslo Pride Parade

This year’s Oslo Pride Parade was a vibrant celebration of love, inclusion, and freedom—and Jazz Music Norway was proud to be a part of it in true swinging style. With a colorful and soulful tribute to the streets of New Orleans, we brought jazz, joy, and jubilation to the heart of Oslo.

Perched atop a decorated flatbed truck rolling through the city, our all-star New Orleans–style band filled the air with the unmistakable sounds of second line rhythms, brass, and blues. From upbeat classics to raucous parade stompers, the music became a moving celebration of life, echoing the spirit of a true Crescent City street party.

Behind the truck, a dazzling group of second line ladies brought the dancefloor to the streets. Dressed in vibrant outfits and armed with parasols, feathers, and fans, they moved with infectious energy, captivating the crowd and spreading joy at every step. The synergy between the band and dancers transformed the parade route into a rolling jazz carnival—equal parts protest, celebration, and performance.

The response from the crowd was overwhelming. Spectators clapped, danced, and joined in, many surprised and delighted by the authentic slice of New Orleans-style tradition right here in Oslo. It was more than a musical moment—it was a statement of unity, pride, and cultural celebration.

Participating in Oslo Pride wasn't just about entertainment—it was about standing for the values jazz has always represented: freedom of expression, resistance through joy, and the power of community. Jazz Music Norway is honored to have shared our music in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community and to celebrate a world where everyone is free to be who they are.

Thank you to Oslo Pride for creating space for us to shine, and to all who danced, clapped, and celebrated with us along the way. Until next year—keep swinging, keep marching, and keep loving.

— Felix Peikli, Artistic Director, Jazz Music Norway
